Arms New Years Resolution
As of the 1st January 2005 The Rufford Arm Hotel became a non-smoking establishment.
Owner Sue Lockwood said "we carried out a customer service poll during
the summer months and 98% of those who filled out the poll expressed a preference
for a non-smoking environment". With such strong response in favour of
non-smoking and with the forthcoming legislation, its hard to ignore customer
opinion. We have always had a no smoking policy in our restaurant, but patrons
have been allowed to smoke in the bar area. This has lead to discomfort to our
guests who prefer less formal dining in the bar area.
Local businessman Andrew Forrest of CigBin.com has installed some discreet but
effective cigarette disposal units within the Hotel grounds, which avoid cigarette
litter and ensure safe disposal of lit cigarette stubs. editorial
